About the Summit

The YLS is a unique opportunity for people 18-28, including undergraduate, graduate and new grads, interested in public transit and sustainable transportation. You will learn, share ideas and connect with peers and industry professionals in transit and sustainable transportation.

Associated Costs

There is no fee to submit a delegate application to attend the Young Leaders Summit. If your application to attend is successful, a nominal fee will apply to secure your registration.The fee structure is as follows:

Students – $50

Early-career Professionals – $150

Diversity & Inclusion at YLS

The CUTA Young Leaders Summit is seeking representation from a diverse array of backgrounds. This diversity includes:


• educational backgrounds (planning, engineering, architecture, communications, trades etc.)
• life stages (e.g. undergraduate, graduate and new-grads)
• provincial, territorial and municipal jurisdictions of Canada
• gender identities and sexual orientations (e.g. LGBTQ2S identifying persons)
• cultural backgrounds (e.g. Indigenous, Asian, South & Central American, African, Afro-Carribean).


The sharing of your details is appreciated in order for the selection committee to make an informed choice on increasing the diversity of representation at the Summit. This personal information is protected under CUTA’s Privacy Policy.

Who Can Apply?

If you are 18 – 28, reside in Canada, and have a keen interest in public transit, sustainable transportation, advocacy and leadership – don’t miss this opportunity to attend a weekend summit with travel, accommodations, meals, summit participation, and in-town transportation covered for all delegates.

Important Dates

Early-bird deadline:

August 20, 2019 (Early Bird deadline is where applicants are reviewed and a shortlist created for the final selection.)

Regular deadline:

September 5, 2019

Final deadline is September 5, 2019. Applicants are encouraged to apply early because spaces are limited.

Travel, Accommodation, and Meals

Applicants who are selected as delegates will have travel to and from summit, accommodations and meals covered. Delegates must be willing to travel to the summit with travel options provided for their region – intercity bus, use of their own vehicle and be reimbursed mileage at a predetermined rate, or by air for select locations only.

Past Delegates

Participants from previous national or regional CUTA Youth Summit events are not eligible to participate; however, they may be considered as speakers, volunteers, or facilitators. If you are interested in taking part in this way, please indicate your interest by contacting

Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 28 as of the summit start (Nov 8, 2019) and be residents of Canada.
